Gameweek 5 Team
A bit of a bounce back this week! My big hitters returned which saved my team, but I continue to get very little from the rest of my squad.
GK – Martinez, McCarthy
The good fortune with my goalie rotation must be coming to an end soon, because it has been as good as I could ask for so far. The risk to bring Martinez in at the start of the season has paid off handsomely with both points and value.
DEF – Trent, Robbo, Taylor, Lascelles, Dier
VVD injured now will see lots of teams transfer out Trent and/or Robbo. But I think I will keep them, they’re so fun! Taylor returned a clean (but got a yellow), Lascelles auto-subbed in for the injured Dier.
MID – Mo, Pulisic, Traore, Soucek, Reed
I transferred KDB out for Pulisic as a bit of a risk for differential that didn’t pay off. I want to give Puli a few more games and then will judge. Traore is a problem that I need to transfer out for next gameweek. Ever since I brought him in he hasn’t played. Soucek continues to look so good with the eye test and will start returning (I’m sure!!). Even if he doesn’t, he’s clearly the best option at that price point.
FWD – Kane, Jiminez, Davis
Kane! So worth the -4 to get him in for Martial. Jim continues to tick, although he was very fortunate to a) score and b) not get sent off. Kane nailed in my team for the mid term.
Gameweek 5 Reaction/Takeaways
There have been so many goals and so few clean sheets, I think the template of my team is wrong. I decided to go with a 4-4-2 to start the season, with enablers in my final midfield and forward spot. I think I should switch to a 3-4-3 or even 3-5-2 formation. Two forwards would probably be Kane and Aguero. I committed to two premium midfielders, but probably one with two mid priced plus Soucek is the way to go. The hardest decision is with Trent and Robbo. I could keep both, transfer Dier to a 4.0 DEF to free up funds and play Trent, Robbo and Taylor week to week with Lascelles only as auto-sub.
